Skeet-R-Gone vs. Chemigation
|
The idea of injecting products into irrigation systems is not a new one. However,
until now, it has never been engineered for simple use by a homeowner with "eco-friendly" products. In
the crop production and large turf farm industry, complicated systems are used to combine certain pesticides and
fertilizers into large automated irrigation devices. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) classifies these
devices as "Chemigation Systems." Because Skeet-R-Gone promotes use of eco-friendly concentrates and
is not intended for large farm or agricultural use, Skeet-R-Gone is not technically a "chemigation" device.
Skeet-R-Gone is the first company to create a user-friendly system especially designed for homeowner use with ecologically
friendly, non-hazardous and non-toxic products. Our team spent extensive time researching the creation of a device
that would give the normal homeowner the ability to install, operate, and maintain a complete lawn spray system.
Because of its simplicity, safety and durable construction, it is the perfect do-it-yourself pest elimination device.
The easy-to-understand instructions make it possible for a normal person to install and operate like a pro. |

Skeet-R-Gone vs. Fertigation Systems
|
Fertigation products, although somewhat similar, actually work much differently than
our system. Fertigaters distribute a very small amount of chemical/fertilizer and run the whole time the sprinklers
are on. The chemical/fertilizer is meant to be washed deep into the soil and these machines are terrific for fertilizing,
but they wouldn’t work as well for controlling mosquitoes and other pests.
Our system is meant to be operated after the normal watering cycle or a significant rain event. Our pump ensures
an accurate and even distribution of concentrate onto the lawn and each zone should be run only one minute, so
as not to wash it into the soil. Mosquito and other pest control concentrates work best if they “sit” on the blades
of grass and are not washed in or away.
On a similar note, you could conceivably fertilize with our product, but it may not be as convenient as a fertigation
system because you would want to do an application and then let the sprinklers run for a while on each zone. So,
for example, you turn on zone 1, press the activation button for a few seconds, let the zone run for a half hour
to wash it in well, then come back, turn on zone 2, do the activation, let it run, etc, etc.
So basically, Skeet-R-Gone and fertigation systems shouldn’t really be compared or lumped into the same group because
they have two very different types of applications and each is more or less desirable of a product depending on
the goal- fertilizing or controlling pests. |

Skeet-R-Gone vs. Misting Systems
|
Misting systems work towards the same goal as Skeet-R-Gone. The theory behind each
of the systems is similar, but Skeet-R-Gone and misting systems work much differently. Misting systems mix the
chemical with water and this is held in a 55 plus gallon drum near the system. Where Skeet-R-Gone uses a concentrate
bottle that is only one quart and the concentrate is added to the water in the irrigation line. Misting systems
require a completely new system where Skeet-R-Gone utilizes the homeowner's already existing irrigation system.
Since Skeet-R-Gone uses the water from the irrigation system to distribute its ecologically friendly concentrate,
the mixture is less prone to drift, unlike the misting systems.
Main Points for Skeet-R-Gone
| » |
|
Misting is more prone to drift from wind than our product applied with water from
sprinklers |
| » |
|
Misting systems require a completely new system |
| » |
|
Skeet-R-Gone is typically less expensive than misting systems |
| » |
|
Skeet-R-Gone uses already existing sprinkler systems |
| » |
|
Misting systems typically use chemical such as Pyrethrin, Permethrin and others to
kill bugs as opposed to the eco friendly concentrate made by our friends at InventeK that Skeet-R-Gone recommends |
